—Prayer & Seeking—
Opening Question:
When you want something badly, how persistent are you in asking for it? Name a time you really wanted something and were persistent to get it.
What Does this Teach Us about God?
What Does this Teach Us About People?
Main Point:
Jesus teaches us to pray with both intimacy and boldness. A good Father invites us to keep asking, seeking, and knocking, and He delights to give His Spirit to those who ask.
Discovery Questions:
Why do you think Jesus begins by teaching them to call God "Father"? What is Jesus getting at with the story of the friend knocking at midnight? Does "keep asking, seeking, and knocking" mean wearing God down, or something else? Why might the best gift the Father gives be the Holy Spirit? What's one thing you've stopped praying about that you want to bring back to God?
