God blesses the unlikely — the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, the merciful — and He means for that same people to be visible as salt and light, so others see good works and glorify the Father, not us.

The kind of people God calls blessed (humble, merciful, peacemakers) are exactly the ones meant to shine. We weren't made to hide our faith but to let our lives point others toward God.
